About Us

What is an inheritance?

For me, it's about understanding oneself based on one's origins and how it has shaped us.

I come from Björnlunda - a small town outside a big city where the Sörmland countryside is at its most beautiful. On a headland, next to a lake, in the middle of ancient oak trees, I was born. In a large pink stone house that was built by my ancestors, together with local craftsmen.

The house was filled with beautiful furniture, books and art from bygone times. There was a large garden and wild nature all around.

BJÖRNLUNDA HERITAGE is my way of trying to manage what I have received from my ancestors, both those in my immediate vicinity, but also the ancestors of the region, those who have helped shape the place I grew up in, and to which I have now returned.

With my cottage as a starting point, I explore what is in my vicinity. I learn about what grows and what I can use it for. I use the beeswax that my neighbor the beekeeper has left over and cast candles. I look for beautiful things that deserve a new life. I collaborate with skilled craftsmen in the area who work within ancient traditions but in a contemporary way.

I believe we need to look back to be able to look forward. Be inspired by the old craft traditions and ways of life. Choose with care and take care of what already exists.

Another thing is to let processes take their time and not strive for perfection. Have you heard of wabi-sabi? The Japanese wisdom of accepting and seeing the beauty in the imperfection of existence and things. To appreciate the "unadulterated integrity of natural objects and processes." As nature does. Nature does not strive for perfection but for diversity, it lets aging take its course but teaches us that everything goes in cycles.

I want this to be a place that makes you think about your own legacy and what you want to pass on. I hope you are inspired to make sustainable and caring choices and that you like what you find here!

I promise that our range takes the greatest possible consideration for both people and the environment and is small-scale and locally produced.
